Nickel Finish

From reader Scott via email:

(kwamebrownsucks@gmail.com - I’m checking it now - I promise)

Everyone Hates Kwame

Lakers announcer Stu Lantz recently quipped, “Kwame is the master of the million dollar move and the nickel finish”.  That was never more evident then last night (1/17/08) against the Phoenix Suns when Kwame missed at least four shots from point blank range.  When your own home announcer disses you, you know you suck.

Thanks Scott.

Following his great post about Verizon Center West, Wizards Insider Michael Lee asks how you would rank these potential Most Lopsided Deals this Millenium:

1. Caron Butler to the Wizards
2. Rasheed Wallace to the Pistons
3. Brandon Roy to the Trail Blazers
4. Baron Davis to the Warriors.
5. Deron Williams to the Utah Jazz.

Everyone should join:

Name:    God Bless Kwame Brown and His Startling Inability to Catch a Leather Sphere
Type:     Common Interest - Beliefs & Causes
Description:
Everybody has moments of ineptitude. Few, however, have them as often, or with as much flair, as Kwame Brown, the erstwhile starting center for my beloved Los Angeles Lakers.

But you do not need to be a Lakers fan, or even a basketball fan for that matter, to appreciate what Kwame Brown, with his stunning lack of fine motor skills, is capable of conjuring on any given night.

Whether it’s inexplicably dropping a bounce pass even a four-year old could secure with ease, or finding new and creative ways to miss what appears to the untrained eye to be an easy layup, Kwame Brown’s unique talent for bungling even the most routine basketball plays can be appreciated by almost everyone.

After all, this is a man who has missed not just the rim, but the entire backboard, from two feet away. This is a man who has shot consecutive airballs from the free-throw line and attempted to catch entry passes with his face. This is a man for whom the highest percentage shot in the sport, the dunk, is anything but a sure thing.

If you find yourself anxiously waiting for the next time Kwame walks onto the court, this is your group.

Kwame was actually cheered once…

Without Bynum, Lakers burned by Suns

Brown finished with eight points and six rebounds. He was cheered only after he picked up his fifth foul and Turiaf replaced him in the third quarter.

“Kwame, disappointing coast to coast. “

Great writeup by Wizards Insider Michael Lee on Kwame getting booed in LA.

Kwame Time!

Kwame Brown has changed coasts, but not much else has changed.

Did anybody catch the Lakers-Suns game on TNT last night? Most of you guys were probably in the bed. Unfortunately, that meant that you missed seeing (or hearing) the Staples Center officially turn into Verizon Center West.

Yes, Brown was booed at home yesterday. In those same vile, unrelenting tones he once received in his last days in Washington.

There was a smattering of boos when Brown missed a point blank layup early in the first quarter, but the fans really gave to Brown during the third quarter, booing every time he touched the ball for long stretches. Brown blew a dunk and committed four of his seven - yes, seven - turnovers during the period and Lakers Coach Phil Jackson had to yank him for good with 3:50 left, after he picked his fifth foul. Ugh.

“I wanted to let him work his way out of it and his teammates wanted him to work his way out of it,” Jackson said. “It wasn’t going to happen.”

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Brown Booed Mercilessly

Best AP Story Headline of the Year!

Brown Booed Mercilessly by Lakers Fans

LOS ANGELES (AP) — After losing to one of their most intense rivals, several members of the Los Angeles Lakers were angry. The object of their ire wasn’t the Phoenix Suns, who beat the Lakers 106-98 Thursday night to regain the Western Conference lead.

It was, surprisingly, many in the crowd of 18,997 at Staples Center, who reacted to Kwame Brown’s problems in the third quarter by booing him every time he touched the ball for several minutes.

“Kwame’s sensitive. You boo him, it’s going to affect him. I told him I’ve got his back.”

….

Brown blew a dunk and committed four of his seven turnovers in the third quarter before coming out of the game for good with 3:50 left after committing his fifth foul. He had eight points and six rebounds.

Kwame Brown Still Sucks

You know its time to start posting again when you get multiple IMs, Facebook messages and emails detailing the latest of Kwame sucking (the LA/PHX game is quintessential Kwame) - so I’m back. Sorry about the lack of updates,  it’s not that Kwame hasn’t sucked lately, it’s just that I’ve just been lazy.

Welcome Lakers fans.  Good to see that you are enjoying your final days with Kwame just like us Wizards fans did.  Those turnovers and missed layups/dunks just never get old.
